Conroy closes Gap for Not A Single Doubt

Not A Single Doubt took a over a month to sire his newest winner this season but that delay doesn’t tell the full story.

The Arrowfield Stud champion passed the 100 individual winner milestone courtesy of Holly Molly at Murwillumbah on July 29.

His 101st individual winner finally arrived when Conroy’s Gap scored a two length victory in the Central Coast Bears Hcp (1100m) at Wyong on Thursday, September 1.

In between, Not A Single Doubt sired the winners Can’t Be Doubted, Jackpot Queen, Dashing Dunlop, Even Money, Favourite Miss, Istaar, Never Doubt Me and Who’s Paying.

But none of those 8 were in maiden company so the individual count didn’t climb.  Together, they have won 23 races.

Statistics can be confusing although in Not A Single Doubt’s case it’s crystal clear he is rapidly developing into a prolific sire of winners.  And they’re arriving at an exceptional 63% strike-rate.

Not A Single Doubt kick-started the Redoute’s Choice sireline when he claimed the Australian first-season winners’ title in 2008-09.

His 101 individual winners have captured 229 races and there has been a standout in each of his three crops to race so far.

Doubtful Jack was the pick of the youngsters in his freshman year while Squamosa led the charge in 2009-10.

And Karuta Queen was not only Not A Single Doubt’s leader last season, she was arguably the best filly of her generation winning four straight including the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Conroy’s Gap (3g Not A Single Doubt – Fleecing by Anabaa) isn’t in that league, however, he was a class above the provincials when resuming after a 21 week spell at Wyong on Thursday.

Gerald Ryan trains him for Bob Charley’s Banjo Club Syndicate and he was a $42,000 buy from Bell River Thoroughbreds at the 2010 Inglis Classic Sale.

Conroy’s Gap is from five-time city winner Fleecing and the mare has also foaled the winners Royal Thief (Royal Academy) and Bucket List (Savabeel).

Not A Single Doubt initially stood for a $13,750 fee at Arrowfield.  Commensurate with his rise up the ranks, that has since been increased to $24,750 (inc gst)
