Agent Steve Brem snapped up city winning mare Cool And Composed in foal to Fastnet Rock for $150,000 at Oaklands Junction on Thursday.
Cool And Composed (Stravinsky) was offered by Eliza Park and she topped Day 3 at Inglis Great Southern Sale. The NZ bred mare’s only foal to race Happy Hour Clock (Stratum) has won twice in Macau.
Group 2 MVRC Stocks Stakes winner Avienus would have topped the first session of breeding stock if bidding had reached her reserve of $450,000. She was passed-in $30,000 shy of that figure.
City winning mares from the Contract Racing draft were also popular with buyers. Agent Peter Ford bought River Fairy (Perugino) for $50,000. She is a half-sister to G1 winner River Dove and is in foal to Domesday.
Emirates Park purchased Double Crossing (Giant’s Causeway) for $42,500. She is a half-sister to Kulgrinda and sold in foal to Excellent Art.
The final day of the 2012 Great Southern Sale will get underway on Friday morning, May 25. Stallions catalogued include Pillar Of Hercules, Primus and Tully Dane.
