Corinthian filly crowns Day 3 at Ocala 2YO Sale

A first crop Corinthian filly crowned Day 3 of the Ocala Breeders 2YO Sale in Florida on Wednesday at $320,000.

Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, she is from the stakes winner Glacken’s Mark (Smoke Glacken) and was purchased by Mark Casse after breezing 400m in 21.02s last Thursday.

Corinthian (Pulpit) stands at Gainesway for a $25,000 fee.  He was a G1 winner of the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile and Metropolitan Handicap.

A Rock Hard Ten – Cute Cakes (Lemon Drop Kid) colt was next best when acquired by EQB agent Patrice Miller for $170,000.

Niall Brennan also consigned the third highest price of the session when a Ghostzapper colt sold to Michael Machowsky for $150,000.  The bay colt is out of Jewel for a King (Storm Cat) and second dam Jewel Princess (Key to the Mint) won the 1996 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Day 3 turnover was $6.05 million and the average price of $29,247 was up 8% from a year ago.  The clearance rate improved 6 points to 77%.

The fourth and final session of the Ocala Breeders 2YO Sale is on Thursday.
