Court Command has arrived back at Wattle Brae Stud to serve his second book of mares.  The brilliant sprinting son of Commands covered 109 mares in his first season and was put back into work this year.

His winter campaign was highlighted by victories in the BTC Darley Sprint (G3) at Doomben and the Exhibition Handicap at Eagle Farm.  He was also responsible for commendable efforts in the AJC Warwick Stakes (G2) and AJC Chelmsford Stakes (G2) before bowing out in the AJC George Main Stakes (G1).

Court Command finishes his career with a race record that reads 6 wins from 18 starts, returning $1.13 million in prizemoney. The two victories during his latest stint in training showcased the brilliant speed this remarkable individual offers broodmare owners.

“It was an experiment when we brought him back from stud, but he’s shown everyone that he’s a great horse,” Wattle Brae Stud principal Gary Turkington explained.  “It was just unfortunate he ran into Trusting in the Warwick Stakes and O’Lonhro in the Chelmsford.

“The bottom line is, Court Command has little more to prove.  He’s already a multiple Group winner and the time is right for him to come home. We were on the lookout for a Group 1 over 1400m but there’s none left this year.

“He only missed four weeks of the breeding season and served three mares straight off the float,” Turkington continued.  “He didn’t miss a beat and has already got 60 mares booked in and that should build up to the 100 mark again.”

Court Command will stand for a $12,500 (+ gst) fee this year.
