Dam of Miss Andretti dies in WA

Miss Andretti’s dam Peggie’s Bid has died in Western Australia.  The Marooned mare was 16.

Dardanup couple Keith and Peggie Beauglehole bred five winners from Peggie’s Bid starting with Australian Horse of the Year Miss Andretti (Ihtiram).  She won 19 races including the G1 Newmarket and G1 Lightning Stakes both in track record time.  Trainer Lee Freedman then took her to Royal Ascot to claim the G2 King’s Stand Stakes in 2007.

Peggie’s Bid also foaled the Ihtiram winners Charlie Beau, Peggie’s Choice and Peggie’s Dream.  Her 2003 foal Danny Beau (Zedrich) was a G3 winner of the Colonel Reeves Stakes at Ascot.

Peggie’s Bid has an unnamed 2yo filly by Oratorio (Aus).  She died while giving birth to another Oratorio filly on Saturday.  The foal also died.

Meanwhile, Miss Andretti’s first foal is an unraced three year-old named Mr Villeneuve (Exceed And Excel) and he is on the books with Anthony Freedman.  The champion mare is based at Barree Stud in Victoria and she missed in subsequent bookings to Redoute’s Choice and Undoubtedly.
