Rangal Park freshman Danerich deserved a change of luck on Saturday and he got it in spades when Bad Parent won by a nose on debut at Wodonga.
Hot favourite Hot Spin (Spinning World) was called the winner of the Beechworth Cordial Plate (1100m) but the photo proved Bad Parent had won by a nose.
Danerich had been denied a win earlier in the week when his filly Rainbow Dane was beaten in a head-bobber at Mornington.
Bad Parent (2g Danerich – High ‘n’ Classy by With Class) is trained by Chris Hyland at Cranbourne and an obvious target for him will be the Jack Maher Classic back at Wodonga next month.
Danerich was a precocious son of Danehill but there’s stamina on the bottom half of Bad Parent’s pedigree. His dam is a half-sister to G1 WATC Derby placegetter From the Hip (Quick Score).
Second dam Shoot ‘Em High (High Reserve) is a half-sister to the dam of G3 MRC Easter Cup winner Show Barry (Baryshnikov).
