Danske succumbs to colitis in NZ

Leading New Zealand sire Danske died on Saturday after succumbing to colitis and renal failure.  He was 14.

Danske (Danehill – Our Tristalight by Sir Tristram) was a G1 winner of the 1998 NZ 2000 Guineas and retired to Windsor Park Stud the following year.  He had been based in the South Island at Emerald Lodge and Berkley Stud in recent years.

Danske has sired 201 winners to date including 11 stakes winners.  The best of his Australian black-type performers have been injury-plagued stayer Dante’s Paradiso (AJC Tatt’s Club Cup) and Cunamulla Lass (Tasmanian Strutt Stakes).
