Ora Dare gave premier trainer Adam Durrant an overdue victory in the $90,000 Geraldton Cup (2100m) on Sunday.

The Oratorio (Aus) gelding started a $2.70 favourite after a last-start fifth to stablemate Tick Tick Bloom in the Bunbury AHA Cup and he was always travelling like a winner for jockey Peter Hall.  “I set him for this race and scratched our other horse Peck,” Durrant said.  “I’ve run three seconds in the Geraldton Cup so it’s good to finally knock one off.”

Ora Dare (5g Oratorio – Brodrae by Barathea) has won 8 races and over $425,500 since breaking through in a Northam maiden in August 2013.  Owner Rod Cosgrove bought him for $75,000 out of the Mungrup Stud draft at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions.

His dam Brodrae was initially retired to Murralla Stud in NSW where she produced Canterbury winner War Council (Commands).  Purchased by Mungrup Stud in 2008, she delivered four foals in as many years but died in April 2012.

Ora Dare capped a winning week for Oratorio after the Ascot victories of Moet Me and Lord Balthazar.  And a day after the Geraldton Cup, he produced unraced three year-old filly Stage Queen to win a trial at Belmont.

Oratorio is set for another big weekend at Ascot with his top colt Lucky Street the opening $1.80 favourite for the G2 Karrakatta Plate.  The Mungrup champion is gunning for a third win in Perth’s premier juvenile event following Gold Rocks and Motion Pictures.
