Darley sire put down in Ireland

Darley sire Echo Of Light was put down on Tuesday after fracturing a hind leg in a paddock accident at Kildangan Stud.

Like Dubawi, he was a son of Dubai Millennium and sired four winners in his first crop during 2011.

Echo Of Light was purchased for a sale-topping 1.20 million euros at the 2003 Goffs Orby Sale and went on to score at G2 level in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein and Strensall Stakes at York.

He was set to stand for a 3,000 euros service fee this year in Ireland after covering 112 mares in his fourth book in 2011.

Bred by Pat O’Kelly, Echo Of Light was a product of one of his breeder’s most famous families.  A half-brother to Listed winner Akarem, he was out of Spirit Of Tara, a G2-placed sister to Salsabil and half-sister to Marju.
