Darley sire Country Reel started the European two year-old season on a winning note with his filly Dont Teutch in the Prix de la Marche (900) at Saint-Cloud on Tuesday.
Dont Teutch (2f Country Reel – Simonkikou by Panis) won by three lengths from Chope Star (Indian Rocket) and Bay Shore (Kheleyf).
Country Reel (Danzig) was a G2 winner of the Gimcrack Stakes and is a three-quarter brother to Anabaa. He shuttled to Darley’s Victorian arm from Haras du Logis for two seasons until E.I. forced him back to France in 2007. He has sired 27 Australian & NZ winners at a 66% strike rate.
His French runners include top-class filly Baine who lost the G1 French 1000 Guineas on protest to Special Duty (Hennessy) in 2010.
