Kanzan confirmed her affiliation with Hawkesbury after claiming a Listed victory in the Darley Crown at the Clarendon course on Saturday.
Kanzan (4m Commands – Cherry Lodge by Grand Lodge) also led home a trifecta for the sponsor defeating Lonhro mares Lonhro and Dysphonia.
The Sheikh Mohammed owned mare had opened her black-type account in the Listed Ladies Day Cup on Hawkesbury Cup day in November 2010. “She’s been thriving out at the farm and had a few things in her favour.”,” trainer Peter Snowden said. “She had won twice before at the track and the rain was a bonus.”
Kanzan is a half-sister to the G3 performer Giresun (Domesday) who will improve off a first-up run in the Hawkesbury Guineas on Saturday. They come from the family of stakes horses Liberty Rose, Liberty Hall, Tantra and Elusive Wonder.
Her sire Commands has recorded 10 individual stakes winners this season and also leads the Australian general sires table by winners with 123.
Kanzan will be set for a return clash with stablemate Screen in the Listed Dark Jewel (1400m) at Scone on May 14.
