Dash For Cash quinella in Greys Plate

Swettenham sire Dash For Cash is one of the few Group 1 grey stallions at stud in Australia so it was no surprise when he provided the quinella in the TCL Greys Plate (1400m) at Flemington on Thursday.

Arinosa (5m Dash For Cash – Amoroso by Revoque) powered home in the straight to defeat Dash For Viz by the best part of two lengths. The runner-up had won the Greys Plate for Dash For Cash last year.

Arinosa is trained by Chris Waller in Sydney and is owned by David and Lynley Puglisi who have raced numerous winners with Makybe owner Tony Santic. “It’s very special to win at Flemington this week and the Greys Plate was their Melbourne Cup,” Waller said. “We targeted this race a couple of months ago and she was coming off an unlucky second at Rosehill last week.”

Swettenham Stud sold Arinosa for $32,500 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale and she won twice at Seymour before transferring to Sydney. Her bank balance went past $230,000 on Thursday.

Swettenham owner Adam Sangster and Lindsay Park raced her dam Amoroso to wins at Cheltenham (2) and Sandown before she retired to stud. The mare has an unraced 2yo named Caminhos Cruzados (Henny Hughes) and a yearling colt by Dash for Cash

Dash For Cash stands at Swettenham Stud for a $9,000 (inc gst) service fee. The Flemington result took his record to 246 winners of 650 races at a 60% strike-rate.
