Day 2 Keeneland November Sale – Brazilian studmaster buys Pure Clan

Brazilian based Stud TNT owner Goncalo Torrealba bought G1 winning mare Pure Clan for $4.50 million on Day 2 of the Keeneland November Sale.  The seven-year-old daughter of Pure Prize was sold in foal to Bernardini.

Pure Clan was unbeaten in four juvenile starts and graduated to Group 1 success in the American Oaks and Flower Bowl Invitational.  “I like that she won on both turf and dirt,” Torrealba said.  “We are looking for good mares and she will go to Three Chimneys Farm.”

Changing Skies (Sadler’s Well) was next best on the leader-board when making $4.20 million to the bid of Mandore Agency.  The Irish-bred mare closed her racing career with a G3 win in the La Prevoyante Hcp and she is in foal to Street Cry.

Capital Plan (Rock Hard Ten) rounded out the top three when bringing $825,000 from Adena Springs Farm.  She was entered as a racing or breeding prospect and was last seen taking the G3 Beverly Hills Hcp in June at Hollywood Park.

Top price among the foals knocked down was a War Front colt for $800,000.  He is a half-brother to G1 winning sire Pomeroy (Boundary) as well as the dam of this year’s G1 winning filly Contested (Ghostzapper).

Wednesday’s session saw 109 horses sell for $33.84 million at an average of $310,459.  Comparing figures from Day 2 twelve months ago is suspect considering that corresponding session comprised the dispersal of the late Saud bin Khaled’s Palides Investments.
