Day 1 Goffs November Sale – Fast Company leads low-key foal session

The Goffs November Foal Sale got off to a low-key start on Monday with top-price of 42,000 euros being paid for a first-crop colt by Danehill Dancer sire Fast Company.

The Fast Company – Lady Dettoria (Vettori) foal was bought by David Bowe on behalf of the emerging pin-hooking venture Hursley Bloodstock.  His dam’s first foal Pepparone (Stormy River) made a winning debut in Italy recently.

Fast Company was trained by Brian Meehan to win a Salisbury maiden in July 2007 and he doubled up in the G3 Acomb Stakes at York the following month.

He changed hands after the York result and ran in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed’s son Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed..  The colt bowed out of racing with a half-length second to champion colt New Approach later that year in the G1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Day 1 is traditionally a quiet session at the start of the Goffs Foal Sale.  Of the 161 horses offered, 83 were sold for turnover of 672,550 euros at an average of 8,103 euros.

The auction will pick up on Day 2 with sires the calibre of Acclamation, Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Invincible Spirit, New Approach, Sea The Stars and Shamardal.

There are also first crop foals by Australian – NZ shuttlers Equiano, Lope De Vega, Makfi, Paco Boy, Rip Van Winkle and Starspangledbanner.

The Goffs November Yearling Sale will follow the conclusion of the Foal Sale on Thursday with the two day Breeding Stock Sale on Friday and Saturday.
