The More Than Ready full-brother to Sebring was the star of Thursday’s trade at the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.
The stunning son of Vinery’s champion sire and Flying Spur mare Purespeed was the subject of fierce competition before selling to Gai Waterhouse for $1.30 million. Besides the Golden Slipper winner, he’s also a full-brother to G1 Queensland Oaks placegetter Falkenberg and a half-brother to G2 Ajax Stakes winner Pureness.
Waterhouse prepared Sebring to his Group 1 Golden Slipper victory in 2008 and was thrilled to get the colt from Corumbene Stud. “I’ve had two Golden Slipper winners off Corumbene and this could be the third. He’s a magical, masculine horse.”
The brother to Sebring was one of three lots to sell for $1 million or more on a stunning day’s selling in front of another massive crowd.
Agent Guy Mulcaster struck later in the afternoon when he purchased the Snitzel – Sabanci colt for $1.10 million from Arrowfield Stud. His dam is a half-sister to Hong Kong star Green Birdie.
The seven-figure barrier was reached again when agent Justin Bahen went to $1 million to secure a Medaglia d’Oro colt for his Hong Kong client Little Kwok Hing Hung. He’s from a city winning Lonhro three-quarter sister to Denman.
“We had a fantastic start to the sale yesterday, but today it really did take off,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “The market consolidated, the clearance rate lifted up, the average is well up now and all the numbers and indicators are telling us it’s a very, very good sale.”
After two sessions, $78.79 million has been traded for an average of $205,723 at an impressive clearance rate of 88%.
