A $1 million Fastnet Rock filly topped the Saturday night session at the Gold Coast Magic Millions when selling to Victorian trainer Brent Stanley.
Catalogued as Lot 672, she was consigned by Newgate Farm and is the second foal of Ten Carat Rock (Rock of Gibraltar). Her dam is an unraced three quarter sister to Redoute’s Choice.
Stanley’s Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds operation linked with CB Bloodstock to secure the prized youngster. “She’s a package racehorse,” Stanley said. “You’re not just buying a page. She’s an athlete and a great mover with good bone and good muscle – all of the things I look for in a horse.”
Day 4 rounded out Book 1 at the Magic Millions with the overall gross of $115.80 million the best ever recorded on the Gold Coast. The average also rose 15% to a record $195,618 and the clearance rate was up 3 points to 89%.
China Horse Club led the buying bench spending $6.69 million on 21 lots. Exceed and Excel was the leading sire averaging $364,545 while Pierro topped the first-season sires with 37 lots averaging $262,568.
“It’s been a fantastic four days,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “Tonight’s Fastnet Rock filly was the sixth millionaire this week. Breeders showed confidence in us and the returns are very satisfying from a Magic Millions point of view.”
