Tuesday’s trade at the 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale didn’t feature any seven-figure lots but turnover from the three sessions soared to $22.97 million – up over $3.50 million on last year’s figures.
Top price on Tuesday was $290,000 for Alverta’s stakes performed sister Star Mystic. She was sold by Yarraman Stud to agent Vin Cox and is in foal to Choisir. The Flying Spur mare won 4 races and was G2 placed in the AJC Surround Stakes. Her first foal is a yearling filly by General Nediym that made $100,000 at the Gold Coast sale-ring in January.
Group 1 winning mare Victory Vein, in foal to More Than Ready, was purchased for $280,000 by Patinack Farm. Stakes winning mare Single Rose, in foal to Flying Spur, was another buy for Cox. He paid $270,000 for the Irgun mare who has an Exceed And Excel filly foal.
At the conclusion of Tuesday’s Broodmare session, seven stallion prospects went under the hammer. Top price of $46,000 was paid for Pillar of Hercules (Rock of Gibraltar) by Bahen Bloodstock of Hong Kong.
Libyan based Al Shaab Stud purchased Brut Force (Giant’s Causeway) for $38,000, Indio Glorioso (Honour and Glory) for $35,000 and Backdraft (Testa Rossa) for $6,000.
The fourth and final session of the National Broodmare Sale (Session 7 of the National Sale series) will be held on Wednesday. The first of three National Yearling Sale sessions to be held from Sunday.
