Day 6 Magic Millions National Sale – Trade $3.5 million more than 2009

Tuesday’s trade at the 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale didn’t feature any seven-figure lots but turnover from the three sessions soared to $22.97 million – up over $3.50 million on last year’s figures.

Top price on Tuesday was $290,000 for Alverta’s stakes performed sister Star Mystic.  She was sold by Yarraman Stud to agent Vin Cox and is in foal to Choisir.  The Flying Spur mare won 4 races and was G2 placed in the AJC Surround Stakes.  Her first foal is a yearling filly by General Nediym that made $100,000 at the Gold Coast sale-ring in January.

Group 1 winning mare Victory Vein, in foal to More Than Ready, was purchased for $280,000 by Patinack Farm.  Stakes winning mare Single Rose, in foal to Flying Spur, was another buy for Cox.  He paid $270,000 for the Irgun mare who has an Exceed And Excel filly foal.

At the conclusion of Tuesday’s Broodmare session, seven stallion prospects went under the hammer.  Top price of $46,000 was paid for Pillar of Hercules (Rock of Gibraltar) by Bahen Bloodstock of Hong Kong.

Libyan based Al Shaab Stud purchased Brut Force (Giant’s Causeway) for $38,000, Indio Glorioso (Honour and Glory) for $35,000 and Backdraft (Testa Rossa) for $6,000.

The fourth and final session of the National Broodmare Sale (Session 7 of the National Sale series) will be held on Wednesday.  The first of three National Yearling Sale sessions to be held from Sunday.
