Day 7 Keeneland November Sale – Pastilla sole six-figure lot

Unraced three-year-old filly Pastilla (Pulpit) was the only lot to reach six figures on Day 7 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.  She sold to James Ryan for top price of $190,000.

Pastilla is out of stakes-winning mare Paiota Falls (Kris S.).  Second dam Dance Swiftly (Danzig) is a sister to Dance Smartly who swept the 1991 Canadian Triple Crown along with the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

Second-best on Monday’s leader-board was G2 Hollywood Oaks winner SMOOTH PLAYER (Bertrando).  She was purchased by Tevfik Celikoglu from Lane’s End Farm for $85,000.  The 16-year-old mare was listed in foal to Twirling Candy.

Smooth Player has foaled the stakes performers Imagine (Giant’s Causeway) and Smooth Performer (Benchmark).  She comes from the extended family of English classic filly Mysterious (Crepello) and Anglo-American champion J. O. Tobin (Never Bend).

On Monday, 271 horses brought a total of $5.58 million and the average of $20,608 was down 15%.  The sale continues through to Friday.
