Dazzling start for Eureka Stud

Although it’s still early days, Eureka Stud stallion Red Dazzler has jumped to an early lead on the first-season sires’ premiership for 2010-11.  The Group 1 winning son of Red Ransom sits atop the table with two winners and $99,000 in prizemoney.

The Bryan Guy trained gelding Dazzling Kind opened his account at Doomben on October 30 and Daytime Dazzler added a second in the XXXX Gold Hcp at Rockhampton on Thursday.

Daytime Dazzler (2g Red Dazzler – Matinee by Flying Spur) carries the same colours as G1 winner Shoot Out and he scored by a length over the favourite You Done It Again (Markane).  The runner-up is by another son of Red Ransom based at the McAlpine family’s Eureka Stud.

Daytime Dazzler was purchased for $180,000 out of the Eureka consignment at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Owners Graham and Linda Huddy placed him with Col Williamson at Peachester Lodge

He went off at $8 second time out despite a nightmare run on debut at Callaghan Park.  “I thought he could win last time but he stumbled and fell out of the boxes,” Williamson revealed.  “Then he ran off at the corner so he did just about everything wrong.”

Daytime Dazzler’s dam Matinee was a Doomben 2YO winner and is a half-sister to four-time G2 winner Staging (Success Express).  She has found further fame as the dam of G1 winners Duporth (Red Ransom), Excites (Danewin) and G2 winner Tickets (Redoute’s Choice).

Matinee doesn’t have a yearling for the sales this season but she did foal a Red Dazzler filly at Eureka in August.
