Leadinng English sire Cadeaux Genereux has died aged 25. He had been retired from stallion duties at Hampshire based Whitsbury Stud earlier this year.
Cadeaux Genereux (Young Generation) was foaled at Whitsbury and had stood at there since 1990. “He has been a wonderful, wonderful servant to us,” Whitsbury Stud manager Charlie Oakshott said. “Because of his age we were getting a bit worried. He was getting a bit wobbly. Thankfully, given the circumstances, he died peacefully in his sleep.”
Cadeaux Genereux has sired seven Group 1 winners including Bahamian Bounty, Toylsome and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Donativum. There are a total of 62 stakes winners to date from 18 crops of racing age. As a broodmare sire, he is responsible for Dream Ahead, Notnowcato and Rajeem.
