Former John O’Shea trained Group 1 sprinter Elite Falls has died. She was last seen tailing the field in the G2 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley in September.
Elite Falls (4m More Than Ready – Niagara Falls by Danehill) was one of the top juvenile fillies in 2010-11 winning the G2 Reisling Stakes at Rosehill and the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley. She was also placed in Sepoy’s G1 Golden Slipper.
As an autumn three year-old, Elite Falls was nailed a nose by Woorim in the G1 Oakleigh Plate.
Turangga Farm sold her for $300,000 at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale to a syndicate headed by Keith Biggs. Turangga owner Stuart Ramsey had raced her dam Niagara Falls to a G3 Carlyon Cup victory at Caulfield in 2005.
The loss of Elite Falls comes less than a month after Niagara Falls delivered a stillborn foal by More Than Ready.
