Death of Kentucky breeder Prince Khaled

Palides Investments owner Prince Saud bin Khaled has died in Los Angeles.  The Saudi native commenced Palides Investments in 1984 and based his breeding operations at Chanteclair Farm in Kentucky.

Khaled bred 29 stakes horses at Chanteclair including this year’s classic aspirant Biondetti.

Biondetti (3c Bernardini – Lyphard’s Delta by Lyphard) is raced by Sheikh Mohammed and cost $350,000 at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling sale.  He won at Newmarket and Kempton Park before graduating to a G1 victory in the Italian Gran Criterium (1600m) in October.

The Darley colt took an unbeaten record into the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs and was far from disgraced when finishing fourth to Uncle Mo.

Biondetti is trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni and is quoted in pre-post markets for the English 2000 Guineas and Kentucky Derby this year.
