Juddmonte Farms provided the highlights at the Tattersalls February Sale on Thursday with 15 lots realising a total of 352,200 guineas.
Full Steam (Oasis Dream) topped the sale at 160,000 guineas when purchased by agent Tony Nerses for long-term client Saleh Al Homaizi. “I came without a real plan in mind, and walked away with her,” Nerses said. “She has a decent pedigree which is hard to get into and was easily the stand-out to me.”
Full Steam won at Chantilly prior to last year’s French 1000 Guineas in which she finished last behind Special Duty after receiving severe interference. Her dam Western Appeal (Gone West) is a sister to European Champion Zafonic.
G3 Park Express Stakes winner Pollen (Orpen) was next best when bought by Irish agent John McCormack for 114,000 guineas while G3 Round Tower Stakes winner Dingle View (Mujadil) went to Danish trainer Bent Olsen for 80,000 guineas.
The Tattersalls February Sale saw across the board increases with the average rising 51% to 10,197 guineas. “It is always good to make a positive start to the year,” Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented. “There was lively international trade from start to finish and the clearance rate of 79% is the highest ever at this sale.”
