The momentum kept rolling on Day 2 of the Deauville December Sale on Sunday with the average increasing by almost 20% to 21,085 euros which was on a par with the trend during the opening session.

Top price of the day was achieved by the Aga Khan mare Shemissa who was knocked down for 130,000 euros to Crispin de Moubray.  She was the only one in the whole sale to carry a covering to German champion sire Monsun.  The Fairy King mare is out of G1 Prix de Diane winner Shemaka.

Shemissa has already produced Shediak who ran third in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère before being shipped across the Atlantic.

Masque Rose (Oasis Dream) in foal to Muhtathir topped Blandford Bloodstock’s shopping list at 125,000 euros.   Offered by Haras de Meautry, she hails from the family of Miesque, Kingmambo and Six Perfections.  “She is an absolutely gorgeous mare, one of the nicest I have seen at the sale,” Blandford Bloodstock’s Richard Brown said.  “She will stay in France until we decide her stallion for next year.”

Liberty Chery (Statue of Liberty) had been the first mare to break the six figure barrier on Day 2 when Stephen Hillen went to 105,000 euros to secure the four-year-old.  Placed twice at Listed level for John Hammond, she was offered carrying her first foal by Invincible Spirit.
