Karuta Queen rocketed up the charts for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next month after she blitzed her rivals in the Wyong 2YO Stakes on Sunday. The Not a Single Doubt filly was sent out second favourite after two impressive Rosehill wins from as many starts during October and the hat-trick was never in doubt.
Karuta Queen (2f Not A Single Doubt – Card Queen by Final Card) is prepared by Neville Layt and was a $30,000 buy from the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale. She was purchased by Glenn Williams from the draft of Turangga Farm and has already earned a staggering $274,000.
“We didn’t think she would be this good when bid on her,” Williams said. “We bought her on speck and she’s done nothing but bloom since we sent her down to Neville.”
The Queanbeyan filly is by Arrowfield Stud’s leading third-season sire Not A Single and her dam Card Queen was a G3 winner of the VATC Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield.
The result was also a bonus for leading Western Australia stud Durham Lodge. The Muchea based nursery has her younger half-brother by Show a Heart catalogued for the 2011 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale.
Card Queen also foaled a filly by Durham Lodge resident Blackfriars on September 2. The mare was a $55,000 buy for Durham owner David Smith from Turangga Farm at the 2009 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
