The Tattersalls October Sale begins at Newmarket on Wednesday and December Draw provided a timely Group 1 for Europe’s premier yearling auction at Flemington on Sunday.
December Draw (Medicis) confirmed his favouritism for the G1 Caulfield Cup with a determined victory in the G1 Turnbull Stakes.
The Mark Kavanagh trained gelding was purchased at Book 3 of the 2007 Tattersalls October yearling sale by agent Amanda Skiffington for 25,000 guineas from the draft of Tuckmilltown Lodge.
It continued the good run of Tattersalls graduates in Australia over the weekend.
My Kingdom Of Fife (Kingmambo) was bought for 60,000 guineas at the 2010 Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale and he was an impressive winner of the G3 Craven Plate at Randwick.
Hawk Island (Hawk Wing) was a 9,000 guineas buy at the 2008 Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale and he finished second in the G1 Metropolitan ahead of a clash with December Draw in the Caulfield Cup.
Samitar (Rock Of Gibraltar) won the Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies Trophy at Newmarket last Saturday. The Mick Channon youngster had won the G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and was coming off a close second to Lyric of Light in the G1 Fillies’ Mile.
Samitar was bought for just 39,000 guineas at last year Tattersalls October yearling sale by Gill Richardson. Her half brother by Sixties Icon is scheduled to go through the ring at this year’s sale on Friday.
Book 1 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale starts on Wednesday and continues until Friday. Book 2 takes place from October 11-13 and Book 3 on October 14.
