Peter Moody will be disappointed if Definitive doesn’t break through for a well-overdue win in Race 4 (2.30pm) at Echuca today.
The Redoute’s Choice 4yo will never repay the $1.3 million he cost as a yearling at the 2007 NZ yearling sale at Karaka but there could be some residual value as a stallion if he can add some black-type this season.
Definitive (4h Redoute’s Choice – Mascara Magic by Citidancer) won his maiden at Ballarat in February and then earned a G3 placing in the Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley.
First-up this prep, Definitive was a fast-finishing second at Geelong (1300m) on September 25 after missing the kick. The Echuca mile should suit second-up.
Definitive is raced by well-known NZ breeders Mark Chitty (Haunui Farm) and Helen-Gaye Bax (Blandford Lodge) along with Moody’s wife Sarah.
Definitive is an older half-brother to AJC Magic Millions 2YO Prelude winner Shadow Assassin (Dane Shadow). They are from a winning sister to Randwick stakes winner Citirecruit. Second dam Serene City (Marscay) is a half-sister to Mr Vitality, Rose O’ War, Danehill Express, Gunnamatta and the dam of King Of Danes.
