Destruction dominant in Dalrello Stakes

Fastnet Rock colt Destruction is destined for better things going on his bold, front-running victory in the LR Dalrello Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Monday.

Destruction (2c Fastnet Rock – Storm Signal by Keltrice) was purchased by Connolly Bloodstock for Nathan Tinkler’s Patinack Farm at NZ Bloodstock’s 2011 Premier Sale.  The colt was part of the Westbury Stud draft and changed hands for $240,000.

Rated to perfection by Glyn Schofield, Destruction kicked away at the top of the straight and held off Holey Gadoley to score by three-quarters-of-a-length at Doomben.

He had won on debut at Rosehill on May 26 beating the Gai Waterhouse trained Kabayan (Haradasun).  The runner-up was second home in the G1 T.J. Smith (1600m) on Saturday.

Destruction will now head to the spelling paddock before being prepared for a spring campaign which could see him aimed at the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington in November.

Patinack Farm has already achieved stakes success with Karaka graduate Trusting (Tale of the Cat) this season.  He won three times at Group 2 level and has been retired to stand his first season at Patinack’s Queensland base this year.

Patinack’s Canungra farm also stands the Karaka graduate Monaco Consul (High Chaparral) who won the G1 Spring Champion Stakes – Group 1 VRC Derby double.

Two Karaka graduates by Fastnet Rock have won Group 1 races this season with the $1 million colt Rock ‘n’ Pop winning the G1 NZ 2000 Guineas and Planet Rock taking the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas and the NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year title.
