A Dixie Union colt brought a final bid of $210,000 from agent Ben Glass to top Day 9 at the Keeneland September yearling sale on Tuesday. Offered by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, the colt was catalogued as Lot 2706 and is the first foal from the unraced Sky Select (Sky Mesa).
Sky Select is a half-sister to 2005 Canadian Horse of the Year A Bit O’ Gold (Gold Fever) and his black-type brothers Arco’s Gold and Adjalah. Second dam Annasan (Corporate Report) is a Canadian Broodmare of the Year.
Two colts sold for $160,000 earlier in the session. A More Than Ready colt out of the stakes-placed Airizon (Boston Harbor) was purchased by Greathouse Bloodstock. The dam is a daughter of 8 time stakes winner Airistar (Prospective Star). The yearling was previously a $62,000 Keeneland November weanling.
The second youngster to bring $160,000 was a Macho Uno colt out of the winning Dazzling Contrast (General Meeting). He is a half-brother to the stakes-placed Hug It Out (Medaglia d’Oro) and their second dam Fantastic Look (Green Dancer) was a G1 winner of the 1989 Fantasy Stakes.
On Tuesday, 297 horses sold at an average of $26,921 which was just $2 up on last year. The sale runs through to Sunday.
