Track conditions and times improved slightly for the second day of NZ Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale Breeze Ups at Te Rapa on Tuesday.
The effect of this was evident with 12 horses recording faster times than Monday’s standard of 10.90. The track was a Slow 8 on Monday but improved to a Slow 7 yesterday.
Hamilton-based Dormello Stud provided the day’s speediest time with their brown colt by Duelled (Lot 172) breezing 200m in 10.54s. He is from the winning Zabeel mare Anthenri and breezed with a Savabeel colt (Lot 40) who recorded the second fastest time of 10.57s.
Both Duelled and Savabeel were trained by Dormello principal Graeme Rogerson.
Duelled won the G2 MVRC AAMI Vase and was runner-up in the G1 VRC Derby. He will be represented by 12 youngsters in the Ready To Run Sale, to be held at Karaka on 17 November.
Waikato Stud sire Savabeel is one of only two three-year-olds in the past 20 seasons to win the G1 MVRC Cox Plate. As a sire he has three stakes winners to his credit including G3 VRC Thoroughbred Stakes winner My Emotion and Listed winners Queen Sabeel and Warrentherooster. A total of 11 progeny of Savabeel are entered in the Sale.
Footage of the Breeze Ups will be available on the NZ Bloodtsock website next week.
