The Eighth Maker was our Maiden winner of the Day at Kyneton on October 2 and he is good enough to take the next step in the Lamby’s Tavern Hcp (Race 5 at 2.10pm) at the Geelong Cup meeting this afternoon.
The Eighth Maker (4g Clangalang – Floral Emblem by Bluebird) was a three length winner of the Hanging Rock Winery Plate (1212m) for Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell at Kyneton and he will appreciate the step up to 1403m on a similar (dead) surface today.
He is by Clangalang who is gradually getting among the winners after a moderate start at Eliza Park Stud. He was retired to the leading Victorian nursery after winning the G1 AJC Australian Derby and Epsom Handicap.
The Eighth Maker is from an unraced daughter of USA bred mare Quaint whose other foals included Canadian stakes performer Cambridge Champ (Sportin’ Life).
The best of Floral Emblem’s runners to date is Accurate Gun (Rubiton) who has won three races and was also placed in the 2005 VRC Maribyrnong Trial (LR).
