Double dip for VOBIS

Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold has paid out a double bonus to the owners of weekend winners Wimborne (Geelong) and Sheriff John Stone (Murtoa).

Wimborne broke through in the Quinlans Cranes Maiden Plate (1535m) and his connections pocketed an extra $22,000 in bonuses on top of the advertised prizemoney.  “He was just a jump and run colt at his only run last season before going shin-sore,” jockey Kevin Forrester said.  “Robbie (Laing) has changed his training routine and now he’s more balanced and starting to really progress.

Wimborne is from the first-crop of Blue Gum Farm shuttler Canford Cliffs (Ire) and his dam Sorenstam (Encosta de Lago) won 6 races up to 1600m in Melbourne.  She is a half-sister to Listed VRC St Leger winner Inkster (Umatilla).

Sheriff John Stone also collected a double bonus for his connections after a three-length victory in the Big Weekend Maiden Plate (110m) at Murtoa.  He is by Chatswood Stud champion Reward For Effort and is the first foal from River Bypass (Skalato).

Reward For Effort also weighed in with Swan Hill winner First Reward on Friday.  The South Australian based filly led all the way on a Heavy 8 for trainer Sharon Hayes.  She is from a half-sister to Group 1 Queensland Derby winner Riva San.
