Dream result in WA Oaks

Dreamaway completed a magic afternoon for Bob Peters on Saturday when she won the G3 WA Oaks at Ascot.

Earlier in the day, Peters won the Matchmaker Classic with New Image (More Than Ready), Country Bowl with Moonbound (Catbird) and Myer Fashions Hcp with Avante (Hurricane Sky).

Dreamaway (3f More Than Ready – Legal Consent by Danehill) is a cut above the other fillies in Perth.  She won a Pinjarra maiden in October and returned this year to build a picket fence in the G3 WA Champion Fillies, LR Ascot 1000 Guineas and LR Natasha Stakes leading up to the WA Oaks.

“I wasn’t too happy when she was pulling going past the post the first time,” Peters revealed.  “But she has a nice, long stride and is from a strong staying family.”

Dreamaway is by Vinery champion More Than Ready and his dam Legal Consent is a half-sister to Miss Margaret (Marscay) who was a G1 winner of the VRC Chrysler Stakes and South Australian Oaks for Peters and his wife Sandra.

Legal Consent’s first foal New Spice (Old Spice) won three Listed races at Ascot and he also claimed the City of Dandenong Cup at Sandown.

Legal Consent has a yearling filly by More Than Ready that sold for $410,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She delivered a Street Cry filly in November and was bred back to Medaglia D’Oro.

Peters enjoyed a successful Ascot summer carnival winning stakes races with Western Jewel (Listed ATA Hcp), Ranger (LR WA St Leger) and Tranquility (LR L Trice Classic) at Ascot.

The winning run revived memories of the 1990s when Peters captured Group 1 races with Spectrum, Old Nick, Old Money, Old Comrade and Natasha.  They were all by his Kaoru Star stallion Old Spice.

Dreamaway is likely to butter-up in the G1 WATC Derby next Saturday, April 2.
