Japan’s 2011 Dubai World Cup winner Victoire Pisa has been retired to stand at Shadai Farm.
There were reports trainer Katsuhiko Sumii would campaign him in Dubai again, however, owner Yoshimi Ichikawa confirmed his colt would stand alongside his own sire at Shadai in 2012.
Victoire Pisa (4c Neo Universe – Whitewater Affair by Machiavellian) won the 2010 Japanese 2000 Guineas and was third home in the Japanese Derby. He went on to finish seventh in the Arc de Triomphe and closed the year back home with a nose victory in the G1 Arima Kinen to cement the Champion 3YO Colt award.
Victoire Pisa travelled to Meydan in March this year and scored an emotional half-length win in the Dubai World Cup. The victory came just a fortnight after an earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan.
Neo Universe (Sunday Silence) completed the 2003 Japanese 2000 Guineas – Derby double before retiring to Shadai. He sired Japanese 2000 Guineas winner Unrivaled and Japanese Derby winner Logi Universe in his first crop and Victoire Pisa has been the star of his second.
His dam Whitewater Affair was a Group winner at Deauville and Newbury when trained by Sir Michael Stoute and at stud she also foaled the Japanese Group winners Sakusa Den’en (Singspiel) and Swift Current (Sunday Silence).
Second dam Much Too Risky (Bustino) is a half-sister to Marooned (Mill Reef) who won a G1 Sydney Cup before retiring to stud in Western Australia where he sired the G1 Railway Stakes winners Hardrada and Island Morn.
