A Dubawi colt dominated the Day 1 leader-board of the Italian yearling sale in Milan on Friday.
The Darley sire’s session-topper made 210,000 euros to the bid of agent Anthony Stroud. He is out of the Listed-winning mare Windy Britain (Mark Of Esteem) and is a brother to Italian winner Kadabra.
“He’s well-balanced and is by a top-class stallion,” Stroud said. “I’ve had a bit of luck here with the likes of Amadeus Wolf and hopefully this colt will be just as good.”
Agent John O’Byrne swooped for the sole offering by Coolmore sire Montjeu. The three-quarter sister to Listed winners Toi Et Moi cost 120,000 euros. O’Byrne bought G1 winner Rip Van Winkle for 170,000 euros at this sale in 2007,
Pinhooker Con Marnane bought a Dubawi filly for 72,000 euros and a Shamardal half-brother to G2 performer Watching You for 65,000 euros.
Leading Italian trainer Bruno Grizzetti bought 20 lots during the first of two sessions. Top if the dial was a 150,000 euros Oasis Dream half-brother to Listed winner Mia Diletta.
