Sincero scored a resounding victory at his first try at weight-for-age in the G1 George Main Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
Sincero (4g Umatilla-Yours As Always by Prego) overcame a wide run in transit to get the better of Ilovethiscity who had headed him at the top of the straight. “He dug deep and just doesn’t know how to give up,” trainer Chris Farley said. “We’re all enjoying the ride and will go to the Epsom then on to Melbourne.”
The George Main was his 11th win from 15 starts. An $8,000 buy at 2009 Inglis Classic yearling sale, he has now earned over $1.37 million.
Bred by Roger and Lyn Gorham, Sincero won the Gosford Guineas and Scone Guineas before grabbing his first Group 1 in the Stradbroke Handicap in June.
Sincero is by Blue Gum Farm sire Umatilla (Miswaki) who was pensioned in December 2009. His dam Yours As Always died in March. She had also thrown minor winners by Luskin Star (2), Spartacus (2) and Zariz.
Sincero and Ilovethiscity will resume hostilities in the G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on October 1. The G1 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 22 is also on the radar for
