The 2011 Dubbo yearling sale conducted by Peter Milling & Company returned disappointing figures on Sunday. Of the 66 yearlings to go under the hammer, 47 were sold at a 71% clearance rate. Turnover reached $213,500 at a $4,186 average which was down 13% from 2010.
Top price of $12,000 was paid for a Choisir – Smooth Enchanter colt offered by Ilala Stud. His dam retired a maiden after 11 starts and she has been represented by the winning Honours List fillies Distinctive Gold and Smooth Honours.
Darley catalogued a dozen yearlings headed by a Commands – It’s Sydney filly that made $11,000. Her dam is an unraced half-sister to G1 winning sprinter Sports (Zeditave).
At the lower end of the scale, 17 lots sold for $2,000 or less.
