Dubleanny sent her earnings soaring over a half-million dollars when she scored a thrilling win in the Listed Straight Six (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.
The Vinery mare showed a tremendous will to win when challenged and, although the margin wasn’t big, the performance was highly impressive.
Dubleanny (4m Dubleo – Uncanny Lady by Canny Lad) was coming off a narrow victory in the LR Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville on May 8. “She loves the straight course,” trainer Mick Price said. “That’s six runs this prep and she’s also had two trips to Adelaide so I hoped there was enough fuel in the tank.”
“There isn’t much around now so she will go out. She can eventually pick up Group 1 Handicap – you would like to think so, anyhow.”
Dubleanny has now earned over $537,000 after being purchased from Murrulla Stud at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $65,000. She is a first crop daughter of Vinery’s USA bred sire Dubleo. Like More Than Ready, he is a son of Southern Halo and won five stakes races from 1100m to 1700m.
The Vinery mare is one of four winners, from four to race, out of unraced mare Uncanny Lady. Her extended family includes Zero Rock and champion filly November Rain.
Dubleo has two weanlings catalogued for the 2011 National Weanling Sale including a half sister to recent stakes performer juvenile Queenian and Hong Kong Group winner Slow Waltz. There are another 12 mares catalogued for the National Broodmare Sale that have been covered by Dubleo.
