Due Sasso topped Day 4 of the Perth Magic Millions on Saturday night with a colt from Jeune mare Ibu.
Catalogued as Lot 513 in the General Session, he was snapped up by Magic Millions winning trainer Simon Miller for $25,000. “He’s a lovely individual,” Miller reported. “I’ve bought a few nice horses from this session in the past couple of years and I’m hoping this colt will continue the trend.”
Mungrup Stud sire Due Sasso was a G3 winner of the 2006 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield for owner-breeder Des Pope and trainer Brian Mayfield-Smith but injury curtailed his career after just 8 starts.
The son of Scenic was set to stand his first-season at Touchstone Farm in 2007 but was transferred to Mungrup at short notice to cover for Danehill Express who had suffered a severe leg injury. That first crop are three year-olds and there have been 9 individual winner to date.
The value at Saturday night’s session was second to none with 75 lots sold at an average price of $4,570. The clearance rate was a healthy 82 per cent.
Following the yearling session, a Racehorse Sale was held and all 29 lots offered were sold in a perfect clearing display. Top price was $26,000 for Nadeem filly Ruby’s Choice who was purchased by young trainer Daniel Pearce.
