Here De Angels is headed for the G1 Oakleigh Plate after his record breaking win in the G3 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Here De Angels (6g Dehere – Angelic Belle by Kenmare) overcame a slow start and a tough three wide trip to grab the leaders near the post. He clocked 61.73 seconds which lowered the race and course record held since 2002 winner by Intelligent Star.
“We’ve had our share of dramas with him with his barrier troubles but he’s really turned it around,” trainer Mark Kavanagh said. “He’s a little bit eccentric, so me and him get along all right.”
Now the winner of 11 races from 28 starts, Here De Angels was earned his Slade Bloodstock connections over $682,000. He cost just $90,000 from the draft of Yarraman Park at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
His biggest pay day could be just around the corner in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield on February 20.
