Exceed And Excel turns 21

Exceed And Excel has moved further ahead of his rivals in the race for the Australian 2YO Sires’ title in the winners category.  His filly Seedacel increased the margin when she resumed from a spell to score a resounding victory at Grafton on Thursday.

Exceed And Excel has no peer siring juvenile winners.  He will walk away with the 2yo divisional premiership again this season having already sired 21 individual winners with another three weeks of the season remaining.  His leader this season has been dual Group 1 Randwick winner Helmet.

The Darley sire has had four juvenile crops to the races and has won the winners’ premiership twice and been second twice.

Exceed And Excel was edged out by General Nediym (15 – 13) when his initial two year-olds hit the track in 2007-08.

More Than Ready beat him 22 – 19 in 2008-09 before the Darley sire claimed his first title in 2009-10 with 16 individual winners.

Seedacel (2f Exceed And Excel – Rosa Nilda by Thunder Gulch) was making her third trip to the races for trainer Greg Howell at Grafton.  She was bred by Premier Bloodstock and is out of a half-sister to G3 winners Rosa’s Image and Rosa’s Joy.

Exceed And Excel will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc st).

His current book of yearlings and weanlings are out of Group 1 winning mares Allow, Carry On Cutie, Champagne, Ellicorsam, Grand Archway, Hasna, Hill Of Grace, Lashed, Lovelorn, MissAndretti, Mnemosyne, One Under, Recurring, Rose Archway, Ruffles, Shame, Upsetthym, Virage de Fortune, Camarilla, Preserve, Rinky Dink and River Dove.
