Exceedance has finished Top 5 among First-season covering sires at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this week.
The record-breaking Gold Coast Sale included 7 mares that sold in foal to the Vinery stallion and they averaged $143,571.
Unstoppabelle (Lot 1104) led those with a PPT to Exceedance when making $280,000 to the bid of B2B Bloodstock’s Ricky Surace. The rising 4yo daughter of I Am Invincible was offered by Attunga Stud (as agent).
She was a 2yo winner on debut at Morphettville for Ciaron Maher Racing and earned black-type when placed in last year’s Blue Diamond Preview Gr.3 at Caulfield.
Unstoppabelle’s younger half-sister Danny’s St Darci (All Too Hard) updated the pedigree winning a Cranbourne nursery at her second start for Archie Alexander last month.
Exceedance (Exceed And Excel) covered 142 mares in his initial book and Vinery has set his fee at $33,000 (inc GST) this year.
Vinery mare More Radiant (More Than Ready) and Willow Park mare Something Silver (Medaglia d’Oro) both changed hands for $210,000 carrying foals by Exceedance.
More Radiant carried the ‘Big V’ brand to Stakes placings at Flemington and Caulfield. Her first foal My Ecstatic (All Too Hard) is in Hong Kong with Frankie Lor and he can capitalize on a Sha Tin win last month in the Tate’s Cairn Hcp (1400m) this Sunday. Her 3yo The Diamond (All Too Hard) is a last-start Toowoomba winner for Kendrick Racing.
More Than Ready mare Ektifaa (Lot 831) was one the stars among the Shadwell Estates Dispersal selling to Kia Ora Stud for $1.7million. “The whole Shadwell draft was amazing but Ektifaa is the one we really picked out,” Kia Ora manager Shane Wright said on Tuesday. “More Than Ready with Not A Single Doubt is a phenomenal cross and that will make her a great match for Farnan.”
In other Vinery news from the Gold Coast, Casino Prince mare Baccarat Baby (Lot 636) sold to Spendthrift Australia for $650,000. She earned over $500,000 for owner-breeders Peter Harris and Matthew Irwin with wins in the Sunshine Coast Guineas Gr.3 and Princess Stakes LR.
And the old-guard of Testa Rossa and Mossman were back in focus from their back paddocks at Vinery. Testa Rossa’s Group 1 performer Mica Lil, in foal to Pierata, was purchased by B2B Thoroughbreds for $200,000.
Mossman mare Moss Trip, in foal to Trapeze Artist, was knocked down for $900,000 to Kia Ora Stud. She was a Stakes winner at Randwick and Scone for Triple Crown Syndications. Mossman has another smart one in Hong Kong with the John Size-trained Drops of God very impressive on debut at Sha Tin last Sunday.
