Excelebration lines up against Frankel

Coolmore made a timely move to secure Excelebration for stud duties in August.

Excelebration (3c Exceed and Excel – Sun Shower by Indian Ridge) changed hands after dazzling G2 victories in the German 2000 Guineas and Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

His G1 breakthrough came in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp in September and he’s lining up for another in the Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes at Ascot on October 15 against Frankel.

At their last meeting, Frankel defeated Excelebration by four lengths in the G3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury in April.

Excelebration continues to run for owner Giuliano Manfredini and trainer Marco Botti.  A decision will be taken at the end of the year whether he will race on at four.

The deal was concluded on Coolmore’s behalf by Blandford Bloodstock and valued him at AUD 2.07 million.  Another Group 1 will ensure his service fee continues to escalate.

Excelebration was a 20,000 pounds buy for Manfredini at the 2009 Doncaster August yearling sale.  His second dam Miss Kemble is a half-sister to G1 Irish Oaks winner Princess Pati (Top Ville).

Exceed and Excel (Danehill) has covered six northern books at Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud for a 12,000 pounds service fee.

Coolmore has also purchased Excelebration’s dam Sun Shower.  The mare had been sold to Indian based Hazara Stud for 10,000 euros at the 2008 Goffs November Mare Sale.  She will return to Ireland in foal to Hazara Stud resident Rebuttal (Mr Greeley).
