Exciting Magic Millions colt by Testa Rossa

Unencumbered will be given the opportunity to emulate his sire Testa Rossa in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.

Trainer Bjorn Baker has lofty plans for Unencumbered after his colt won the Ascend Sale Trophies Plate (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday.  “I’ve had some good two-year-olds and he’s right up there with the best of them,” Baker claimed.  “We will run him in the Wyong Magic Millions before going to the Gold Coast.

“He’s a very nice horse with good pedigree.  You get excited about a horse like him going forward to the Magic Millions.”

Vinery sire Testa Rossa won the 1999 Magic Millions Classic and it was the launching pad for a career that eventually embraced five victories at the highest level.

Unencumbered (2c Testa Rossa – Blizzardly by More Than Ready) cost $70,000 from Newhaven Park at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.  His Vinery bred dam Blizzardly was a precocious juvenile winning the LR Keith Mackay Stakes at Randwick.  She foaled a Commands filly on November 16.

“This colt did what you want to see from a horse going towards the Magic Millions,” winning jockey Nathan Berry said.  “He will be a genuine contender up there.”

Testa Rossa stands for a $27,500 (inc gst) service fee at Vinery.
