South Australian trainer Bill Bogarts and his wife Julie are looking forward to bringing Fear The Faith back into work as a spring three year-old.

Fear The Faith (2g Keep The Faith – Royal Jama by Royal Academy) showed plenty of pace to win the Williams Refrigeration 2YO Maiden (1007m) on debut at Balaklava last week.  He shadowed front-runner Assertive Eagle and got the upper-hand in the straight to score by more than a length.

“He had won a jump-out and we were pretty confident although he was still underdone,” Julie Bogarts revealed.  “All the rain put us back a bit but the race suited so we went ahead and started at Balaklava.”

Fear The Faith had been gelded a month before his first start but recovered quickly.  “He actually put on a growth spurt and really filled out around the hindquarters,” Bogarts said.  “We will give him another six weeks off and he should come back ready for a full-on campaign.”

Bill Bogarts prepares Fear The Faith for owner Ken Fowler.  Greta West Stud bred and sold Fear The Faith at the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions for $52,000 and it will be money well spent if he keeps improving like the rest of his immediate family.

His older half-sister Martha’s Vineyard is a rising seven year-old and she has won sprints at Doomben and the Sunshine Coast this season.  Popular warhorse Skybeau is another close relation.  He won two G3 Birthday Cups at Morphettville and was still competitive as a nine year-old.

Keep The Faith is an Australian bred son of Japanese legend Sunday Silence.  He stands at Swettenham Stud and has sired 27 winners to date from his first crop.  

Fear The Faith is a member of his second crop and his dam Royal Jama foaled another Keep The Faith colt at Greta West last September.
