Excellent Art posted his first Australian winner when Family Portrait scored in style at Morphettville on Saturday.
The Mick Huxtable trained filly settled off the pace and accelerated swiftly to win the Adelaide Galvanising Plate (1000m) by over a length.
Family Portrait (2f Excellent Art – Amen Ruby by Rubiton) was a $60,000 buy from the draft of Musk Creek Farm at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier. Her dam Amen Ruby won at Caulfield and was runner-up in a Listed VATC Quezette Stakes at Sandown.
Amen Ruby has a perfect record at stud with prior winners Zerogem (Danzero), Angel Of Hope (Choisir) and Amour Cache (Exceed and Excel). Second dam Golden Prayer (Amen Brother) was a G2 winner of the SAJC Breeders’ Stakes.
Excellent Art (Pivotal) was a G1 winner of the St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. His first northern hemisphere two year-olds are firing in Europe this year with 26 winners from 68 individual starters.
Excellent Art shuttles to Coolmore Stud’s Hunter Valley base for a $11,000 (inc gst) service fee.
