The 2011 Perth Magic Millions received a tremendous boost with a swag of top class results over the weekend.
Half or full relations to five Ascot winners from Saturday including a stakes winner, a seriously good Hong Kong winner and winners from Malaysia and Singapore on Sunday are all heading to the Belmont Park auction.
Famous Roman led the way with a thrilling win in the listed Northerly Stakes (1400m) on Saturday for Jim Taylor and Jason Brown.
The Dawson Stud graduate, sold by Magic Millions as a yearling and a Horse in Training 2YO Sale, is being set for the G1 Railway Stakes. A half brother to Famous Roman by Bletchley Park will be one of the star offerings from Dawson Stud this February.
Hello Hero continued his great recent run with a victory on Saturday for Trevor Andrews and Duncan Miller. The four-year-old gelded son of Stormy’s Son cruised home to win by three parts of a length. A half brother to Hello Hero by exciting young Mungrup Stud sire Danehill Express will go under the hammer at the 2011 Perth Yearling Sale.
Gum Nut Guru won the first Ascot race of the season when he led throughout for the Parnham family. His half sister by exciting first season sire Flying Pegasus is being prepared by Dick Vincent’s De Grey Stud for the 2011 auction.
Flying Pegasus is the first freshman this sire in Australia to register a metropolitan winner and more of his juveniles starred at trials in Perth on Monday morning.
Blacksmith got home in a driving finish at Ascot on Saturday. The Ross Price trained four-year-old son of Hurricane Sky has a half brother by Universal Prince set to go under the hammer at the same auction.
Street Value, a daughter of Shocking’s sire Street Cry, was also a winner at Ascot on Saturday – this time for Michael Grant and Ryan Hill. A half brother to Street Value by top Victorian sire Bel Esprit is sure to attract plenty of attention when he is presented at the Belmont based sale.
In Hong Kong on Sunday, the win of the day was turned in by promising Fastnet Rock youngster Captain Sweet. A $60,000 purchased from the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Captain Sweet is trained by John Moore and he won by almost five lengths in brilliant fashion.
A half sister to Captain Sweet by Flying Pegasus will highlight a quality draft from Avoca Park Stud. The mare is due to foal to the same sire any day now and will be served this spring by the Danehill Dancer horse Shrewd Rhythm.
Blackfriars gelding Agent of Speed won in great style in Singapore on Sunday night. A full sister to Agent of Speed will be a member of a top class draft from Muchea’s Durham Lodge.
Another member of that draft will be a half sister to Saturday’s impressive Malaysian winner Mr Showpiece. That youngster is another by former crack galloper and proven sire Universal Prince.
“Our Perth graduates have been performing with great distinction around Australia and overseas in recent weeks and include spring carnival winners Sistine Angel, Eclair Surprise, Valentine Miss and Epic Dragon,” Magic Millions Perth Manager Murray Tillett said.
“And previous graduates and Western Australian bred stars have included the likes of Hay List, Miss Andretti and the stablemates Scenic Shot and Scenic Blast.”
The 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale will be held over four sessions – February 9, 10, 11 and 13.
