Coolmore Stud won on two counts when Fast and Sexy scored a narrow victory in the Vale John Bradshaw Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.
Fast and Sexy completed a running double for Coolmore shuttler Fastnet Rock following the earlier win of his grey filly Teardrop Rock. The result also boosted the value of Coolmore’s Encosta de Lago – Fayfa colt being offered at the Magic Millions as Lot 165 on Wednesday.
Fast and Sexy (2f Fastnet Rock – She’s Alluring by Lure) is an older half-sister to Coolmore’s yearling and she was a $170,000 graduate of the 2010 Magic Millions.
The Chris Waller trained filly will bypass the Magic Millions Classic this Saturday. “She has a future and it’s nice to get a 2yo winner for the Inghams,” Waller said. “I think she is an autumn filly and we will look after her now.”
Fast and Sexy defeated Snippets of Glory (Snippetson) and Combat Kitty (General Nediym) at Randwick and both placegetters will head to the Gold Coast if they manage to make the field for the $2 million Classic this Saturday.
Orange Grove Thoroughbreds sold Fast and Sexy last year and the Tamworth based nursery has another 8 yearlings catalogued for this week’s Magic Millions.
Their Bernardini – Marrego filly will be popular on Thursday. Catalogued as Lot 324, she is a half-sister to the White family’s multiple G1 winner Eremein (AJC Derby, STC Rosehill Guineas and STC BMW Stakes).
