Fast Talker – Bred to Win – Monday 26 October 2009

Fastnet Rock is currently enjoying a terrific season at stud, sitting atop of the second season sires’ premiership, and the Coolmore stallion has a chance to extend his lead even further today at Pakenham.

Fast Talker (3f Fastnet Rock-Crystal Wit by Distorted Humour) has only missed a place once in her five starts for Lee Freedman and looks well placed to take out the Race Tech 3YO Maiden 1008m (Race 1 at 12.26pm).

At her last start back in March, Fast Talker was narrowly defeated by stablemate Baby Corn in the Listed Pewsey Vale Stakes at Morphettville.  Although she has had no public trials in her return from a spell, she does have a 2kg claim for rising apprentice Nathan Rose which brings her weight down to 53kg.  From gate one she looks very hard to hold out.

Fast Talker is the first foal for the stakes winning Crystal Wit, who is a half sister to this year’s Listed MRC Debutant Stakes runner up Crystal Lily (Stratum).  This is the same female family that produced this year’s G2 Bill Stutt Stakes winner Carrara (Elvstroem).  Since foaling Fast Talker, Crystal Wit has produced fillies by Lonhro and Fastnet Rock.
