Up-and-coming Oaklands Stud sire Ferocity topped the Capricornia yearling sale at Rockhampton on Friday. His colt from Marauding mare Survive made $27,000 and will be trained for a Gold Coast syndicate by Toby Edmonds.
Catalogued as Lot 69, the colt was offered by Robyn Wise as agent and is a half-brother to winners by Catrail, Success Express and Sequalo.
“There was a very strong crowd in attendance and the sale was much as expected,” Magic Millions acting managing director David Chester said. “We were hoping for a little better but there is no doubt the effects of recent disasters in the region were reflected in the sale.
“Magic Millions is committed to developing this sale on behalf of the Central Queensland Breeders and, given the events in recent months, we are even more determined to grow this sale over the next few years.”
A total of 59 yearlings changed hands at a $7,741 average which was down 19% from last year. The clearance rate was down 8 points to 63%.
